Apostolos Kyriazopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources at Democritus University of Thrace. His field of specialty is \u201cManagement and Improvement of Meadows \u2013 Forestry Systems\u201d. He has been teaching courses related to \u201cRangeland Ecology\u201d and \u201cManagement and Improvement of Rangelands\u201d for more than 15 years, as well as the following courses: \u201cEcology and Management of Grazing\u201d, \u201cBiodiversity of Terrestrial Ecosystems\u201d, \u201cManagement of Natural Resources\u201d and \u201cMethod of Grazing\u201d. He has published more than 150 scientific papers, 45 of which in prestigious international journals. He is a member of the scientific committee in 8 international journals, including the Journal of Environmental Management (ELSEVIER) and Agronomy (MDPI). He has organized or participated in the scientific committee of numerous national and international conferences and has evaluated the scientific proposals submitted for funding in Greece, Cyprus and Italy. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the FAO Sub-Network for Mediterranean meadows and grazing resources, and served as President of the Hellenic Range and Pasture Society in 2013-2014, and Vice-President in 2011-2012 and 2019-2020. He has also developed research activity for the management of grassland ecosystems in other Mediterranean countries besides Greece such as Cyprus and Lebanon as well as in the Caucasus (Azerbaijan). He has participated in 24 research projects, in 7 of which as a scientific coordinator. Among other things, he drafted the national standards for the management of grasslands in Lebanon, studied the possibility of pastoral development in northern Evros, drafted a plan for the restoration of the burnt grasslands in Oinousses, assessed the grazing capacity and prepared the grazing management plan in the Akamas peninsula (Natura area) of Cyprus and explored the possibility of sustainable pasture management in Azerbaijan using Sentinel satellites.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
