Malamati Papakosta is an assistant professor at the Department of Forestry and management of the environment and Natural Resources of the Democritus University of Thrace focusing on “Ecology and Wildlife Management”. She completed her PhD thesis at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki entitled “The diversity of beech marten prey (Martes foina) in Mediterranean ecosystems” (2013), as well as her postdoctoral research (2016-2017). During her doctorate studies, she received an “Excellence” Scholarship from the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is also a holder of a degree in pedagogy and teaching proficiency (Higher School of Pedagogy ASPETE) (2018) and has participated in numerous funded research projects and supervised some of them.
Her research interests focus on the following:
- Management of game species
- Protection of endangered species
- Impact of predators on biodiversity
- Habitat-wildlife relations
- Ecology and management of invasive alien species
