Georgios Papaioannou is an assistant professor at the Department of Forestry and management of the environment and Natural Resources (DuTh) focusing on “Mountain Water settlement – Forest Hydrology” (2021-present). He holds a BA degrees (Department of Forestry and Management of Environment and Natural Resources, DuTh) (2006) – Department of Forestry and Hydronomic works and a MSc degree  in Sustainable Management of Environment and Natural Resources (Duth) (Direction: “Sustainable management of mountain water basins with intelligent systems and geographic information systems” (2008)). He completed his doctoral studies (Ph.D.) in the Department of Civil Engineering (University of Thessaly) in the area of Hydrology and Water Resources in 2017. He has teaching experience in the research area of Hydrology in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University of Thessaly and Democritus University of Thrace. He has participated as a member and as a postdoctoral researcher in international and European Research Projects on hydrology, GSP applications and Water Resources Management at the University of Thessaly, the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research-Institute of Marine Biological Resources and inland waters and Democritus University of Thrace. He also has professional experience in hydraulic and hydrological studies, GSP applications and Water Resources Management Studies. He has authored twenty-four (24) publications in international scientific journals and forty (40) publications in national and international scientific conferences while his published work has received 484 citations (Scopus database) and 719 citations (Google Scholar database) (November 2022).
